Appeal for information after knifepoint robbery
We are appealing for information after a motorbike was stolen at knifepoint in Tamworth.
It happened at the junction of Salters Lane and Upper Gungate at around 8.10pm on Tuesday 19 September. The victim was approached by three masked men when he stopped at traffic lights.
One of the offenders, dressed in dark clothing and a black ski-mask, approached the rider on foot, snatched the keys out of the ignition and tried to pull him off the motorbike. The man then produced a knife and demanded the rider hand over the vehicle.
A grey Audi Q3 or Q5 then pulled up. The driver and passenger, wearing similar clothing to the first male, got out of the car.
Fearing for his safety, the victim handed over the blue Honda CBF 125 motorbike to the group. It was ridden off by one of the offenders towards Tamworth Community Fire Station, followed by the car.
Investigative officer, Stephen Meakin, from CID, said: โThis was a distressing robbery that has left the victim understandably shaken.
"Officers are reviewing CCTV from shops and homes in the area and are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry as part of our investigation into the incident.
